His 4 big inventions were recorded sound, motion pictures, the electric light bulb and utility industry, and the concept of commercial R&amp;D labs. Just recently, the Voice of America proclaimed that the wonderful products and technology that came out of the Edison labs in West Orange are probably responsible for creating 25% of the jobs in all the world! Now there is a statement that needs no further clarification. Edison gave the world more lasting practical value than any other human before. Life magazine named him the Man of the Millennium.
